Bound by Thread
I’m excited to have my textile artwork Creek Forms (wattle) included in the upcoming group exhibition Bound by Thread, curated by the Naarm Textile Collective and held at Glen Eira City Council Gallery.
"Bound by Thread brings together work by artists from the Naarm Textile Collective who are exploring the creative possibilities of thread in their work. The exhibition showcases contemporary textile art from local and regional Victorian artists, exploring a diverse range of approaches that experiment with new ways of working, bringing different cultural perspectives, and subverting the medium in exciting ways.
Thread practices are woven through cultures and generations, a creative process which provides both opportunities for social connection, and individual expression. From functional objects to aesthetic works to social projects to more political practices. Bound by Thread brings the meanings bound into these works and the ways in which objects can generate memory and identity." (Naarm Textile Collective)
The exhibition will feature work by 80 textile artists.
The collective are also running drop-in Sit and Stitch sessions every Saturday for the duration of the exhibition.
