Drawings 2021
Across 2020-21, I made a series of multi-panel drawings.
Drawing was a way I could keep creating during the covid lockdowns using materials I could access and work with easily.
They were very much inspired by my daily (sanity) walks along the creek and the experience of being immersed in the waves of the ground, the water and the sky.
The layered patterns and forms in the works are an abstracted interpretation of the textures found in nature, where repetitions and rhythms weave together and build through streams and furrows, eddies and furls; in intricate details.
These drawings also ended up providing a catalyst for my later embroidery and textile explorations.
Cadence (together and apart) was shortlisted for the Banyule Award for Works on Paper 2021.
Susurrus was shortlisted for the Darebin Art Prize 2021.
